Roberto Paolini then Rup. I grew up in the family cinema with fine art-films selection (and sometimes mainstream) that has fed me eyes, mind and soul.
My passions have always been multiple: drawing, writing, music and cinema.

I started at the age of 16 together with my friends with the first directing tests, short films and cinematographic experiments.

I graduated as an Editorial Illustrator.

I then worked as an Art Director in various agencies, first for the web advertising and then on print campaigns for Campari, Vodafone, Audi, Volkswagen, Tim and many other.

In Rome I was Assistant Director for Andrés Arce Maldonado and since 2008 I have dedicated myself mainly to making films, advertising, music videos, corporate videos and various experiments.

In 2008 my first documentary Arrivederci a Taranto was selected at the Festival Festival of Cinemambiente in Turin, at the European Film Festival and winner of the Cortowork award at the Epizephiry International Film Festival.

At the end of 2014 my second documentary La Visione Romantica is released.

In 2018 my first feature film L’Estraneo (The Outsider) is finished.

In 2017 I've inaugurated Carboluce, an artistic / cultural project dedicated to the research and promotion of independent, self-produced and experimental films.

In 2020 I produced the first Carboluce’s collective film project Film Fantasma.

After all these years I still like write, drawing and direction.
I have a lovely one-eye cat.
